I’m currently following a man running the length of Africa and a woman walking the Pacific Trail on Instagram so I am the perfect reader for this memoir of a mum and her 7 year old daughter walking the length of New Zealand on the Te Araroa trail. It did not disappoint. A powerful and at times distressing book I was rooting for this duo to get all the way from Cape Reinga to Bluff without mishap. Victoria herself has been through enough for one life and talks honestly and movingly about her traumatic childhood and youth, wanting things to be oh-so-much-better for Emilie.
