It’s hard to articulate just how much I liked this book. I loved spending time with it and picking it up each evening was like finding old friends.
The four Blue - that's their surname - sisters were so familiar to me. Their wants. Their desires. Their ambitions and their failures. The book opens on the first anniversary of the death of the third sister Nicky and the arrival of an e-mail from the girls' mother, with whom they all have a tricky relationship, that sends them all reeling. But this isn't a cold mother bashing novel, or an alcoholic dad bashing novel and certainly not a simple morality tale of good girls and bad girls but it does answer some of the questions we all ask ourselves after falling down and having to pick ourselves up again. Also, it has the ending you would hope it have.
