Book of the Month: Wrong Place, Wrong Time

This is our first blog post about the Booklover Book of the Month! We run a Booklover Book Club, made up of ten lovely booklovers, that meets monthly to discuss one book. The books we pick are from all different genres so they push us to read outside our comfort zones. We’re a mixed bag of readers and we don’t always agree which makes for some great discussions.

We decided to create the Booklover Book of the Month so we can share our discussions with the wider book community. Our current Book of the Month is Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. This book has such an interesting premise: A woman’s son kills someone and when she wakes up the next morning, it’s not the next morning… it’s the day before the murder happened.

So this is what our bookclub had to say:

The general consensus was that everyone loved it (this is a rare occurrence!). The style was refreshing, the way that the story moved back in time kept the reader on their toes as they tried to solve the reason for the murder. There was a great mix of shocking and tender moments. We couldn’t decide what genre it fits into as it’s not a bog standard crime and thriller nor is it a sci-fi time travel story or a family drama. It’s a clever contemporary read that shouldn’t be confined to a particular genre (there was a lot of debate over the cover and whether it reflects the story accurately!). We loved the overall message of appreciating the people in your lives and the small moments that can easily be overlooked. Everyone needs a little gratitude reminder.

Next month we will be discussing Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
