The first in a new series, Indigo Moon is set a generation on from The Black Spiral Trilogy which you don’t have to read before picking up this book, but I urge you to do so anyway because the series is fantastic. Indigo Moon is set in the future, where two virally optimised teenagers Rigel and Indigo get caught up in a deadly game involving time travel, shape-shifting, and gene manipulation. Merriman has the ability to keep the pace and energy high - chapters are short, punchy and invariably end on a cliffhanger so the book is practically impossible to put down. Of course no YA would be complete without a good dose of teenage angst and this has plenty! A fantastic read for ages 14+ and I can’t wait for the next one.
