Keeper Of The Lost Cities (The whole series!) (KOTLC)
KOTLC is a true wonder of a book. There is no way for me to truly describe how magnificent the series is but like Sophie (the main character in the book) always does, I will try. First I will start off by saying I have read many books that have earned their own spot in my personal collection of favourites, but nothing has ever been able to get close to even comparing to KOTLC. Let's go at this in sections shall we?
First off, the first book I ever really loved was Harry Potter. When I first read KOTLC it was the school holidays after I had finished year four and was able to read the entire series up to book 8.5 which at the time was all the books that were out. I can now tell you with absolute certainty that in my opinion KOTLC is better than Harry Potter.
Now after that bombshell… let's get onto perhaps the most important part. What makes it soooo good? The craftsperson ship that is put into KOTLC is amazing! As someone who has tried to write a book I can personally tell you the level of detail and life that is put into the Lost Cities is amazing, with all the misconceptions that are in the world of the elves it feels like real life but way cooler. When I am reading I really feel like I'm in the Lost Cities, with all its memorable characters and amazing takes on different myths.
Lastly, I think I should mention the absolutely insane cliffhangers. You wouldn't believe the kind of cliffhangers that there are at the ends of each of the books. But I would just like to also point out that those cliffhangers are one of my favourite things about the series. Thank You Shannon Messenger for writing this work of art.
