My first literary crush was Alexander in The Bronze Horseman so I’m excited to say that I think Paullina Simons is back to her best. This one is a historical romance between Finn, an American banker dealing with the The Great Depression and Isabelle, who fled the Soviets in Ukraine in 1929. It’s highly detailed about both historical events, and it all comes together beautifully in a heart-wrenching manner. I didn’t want to put it down, and I was rooting for Finn and Isabelle all the way. If you like a “will they/won’t they” slow burn romance then this is for you.
