I've tried multiple times to cut this review shorter but I have too much to say and I really loved this cute bug book!
I'm tired of comparing everything to Harry Potter but the fact is that if I say "it's like Harry Potter" people immediately understand the reference whereas if I say "it's like Skandar or Crookhaven" I'm usually met with blank stares. I understand these series are too new to be comparing other books to but their time will come!!! (SKANDAR BOOK 4 JUST ANNOUNCED AND COMING THIS OCTOBER!)
So without further ado: If A Bug's Life and Harry Potter had a book baby it would be Marnie Midnight. Marnie the moth has just started her studies at Minibeast Academy. She's so excited to learn more about her idol Lunora Wingheart and moon magic but she soon finds out that studying the moon has been forbidden at the academy! But why!?
I thought this was so much fun and I could imagine reading it to my future kids, pointing out all the cute details in the illustrations and dissecting all the bug puns together (there are SO many, Laura is so clever!). The story is filled with a great range of bug characters from Marnie's two new bug friends to the mean Betterflies to the moody Mosquito triplets. I really can't wait for Book 2!
