Reading Atwood's collection of short stories is like going out to dinner with your favourite godmother and over the course of the evening setting the world to rights.

At 83 this phenomenal author is reflecting on life and death and the crises in which we all find ourselves. Her stories about Nell and her husband Tig are largely auto-biographical whereas other stories are flights of fantasy with themes similar to The Handmaid's Tale.

My favourite story is the imaginary interview between Margaret Atwood and George Orwell and it is worth buying the book for this piece of genius alone.
