Piranesi's house is no ordinary building: its rooms are infinite, its corridors endless, its walls are lined with thousands upon thousands of statues, each one different from all the others.

By the international bestselling author of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Piranesi is one of those books that the more I think about it, the more I realize I did really enjoy it. While I was reading there was a lot of “what the heck is going on?” but in hindsight that’s what was so appealing about it. A great short novel for someone who wants a bizarre fantasy(ish…?) story. You don’t truly know what’s going on until about 50 pages in which is so intriguing as you’re dumped into the middle of the story - a bit like Piranesi himself. Even after those 50 pages I don’t know if I ever wrapped my head around it properly but that’s what kept it engaging. A beautifully woven tale full of twists and turns.
