Under the influence of their charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is a world away from the humdrum existence of their contemporaries.
I MEAN IF THAT DOESN’T HOOK YOU????
The Secret History follows Richard as he reflects on the murder of fellow classics student Bunny and that’s really all you need to know. I was put onto this by two people whose book tastes I trust more than anyone else in this world and my life is now split into two parts: ‘Before’ and ‘After’ The Secret History. Honestly I don’t want to remember the ‘Before’… EXCEPT I do wish I could experience reading it again for the first time, Donna Tartt’s writing just made me melt.
If you find yourself always saying “I’m a booklover, I love to read” or “I appreciate good literature” well then I expect you’ve already read this… if not, let me introduce you to your next favourite book.
I also just have to mention - THE TYPESET IN THIS EDITION IS TO DIE FOR. And now I’m off to re-read because writing this review made me realize it’s been a while and there’s nothing quite like re-reading a favourite book.
