This is the first book in a brilliant historical/romance series that I just devoured as soon as I got my hands on them! There are six sisters, who after learning of their adopted father’s death, are given clues to find their biological family should they wish to. Each book is about a different sister, and whilst Pa Salt’s (their father’s) death is rehashed at the beginning of each, other than that there is very little cross-over. Whilst they can be slightly predictable when it comes to who each girl is going to fall in love with, the rest of the story more than makes up for it. Each sister’s story takes her to a different continent as she learns what has happened to her biological mother and how she came to be adopted by Pa Salt. There are strong themes of family and finding somewhere to belong - things we all struggle with sometimes.

I like historical fiction best when it jumps between the past (generally her great-grandmother) and the present which is done well. They are well written and heavily researched, and whilst long, they are an easy read because you just will not want to put it down. You can read them out of order, but always recommended to read in order (I read 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 5 and only had minor spoilers for #5). Customers put me into these books, and it’s been fun discussing our theories of who is Pa Salt and why he chose these girls in particular.

The Missing Sister is the latest book (May 2021) with Pa Salt’s story due May 2023. See below for the rest of the series.
