This follows on from The Italian Daughter, but by no means do you have to read them in order. The premise is that within a derelict home for unmarried mothers, seven little boxes are found, each containing something left behind for the child by their birth parents “in case they ever came looking”. Claudia is given her grandmother’s box, and it leads her to, you guessed it, Cuba! Self-discovery, family secrets and a dash of romance are just the ticket for fans of light historical novels in the vein of Lucinda Riley.
