Down in NZ it's really hard sometimes to follow Tiktok trends like #80sSlasherSummer, what with it being winter here and all... so instead I have to live vicariously through books! The Island gave me exactly what I wanted - a super predictable (but also I didn't see it coming??) teen slasher story. Six social media influencers are invited to a private amusement park on an island (sign me up!!!). Their job is to take photos and videos to post to their followers so when the park opens to the public everyone will be dying to go... but when one influencer goes missing they quickly realize their fun weekend might not be so fun.
I was in such a reading slump and this book pulled me right out. I just couldn't wait to cozy up at the end of each day to read about teens being hunted down on a theme park island!
