Oh what a joy to read. Set in Ireland and New Zealand, this is the story of three siblings who come together to be by their mother’s bedside after she attempts to kill herself. In doing so, they are all forced to face their past and confront their failures in the hopes of building a brighter future. It’s filled with insight, family drama, and brilliant Irish humour. I loved the unshakeable bond between the siblings even when they were infuriated with each other! A wonderful debut that examines the effects of alcoholism and trauma with a sympathetic, hopeful lens. Highly recommended.
