On September 5th, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today.

I’m not crying, you are.

This book really played with my heart. I mean, what did I expect with a title like that? Be prepared for tears. How would you spend your last day? I would probably spend a significant amount of time freaking out about not wasting my last day that I would end up doing exactly that! Well, Rufus and Mateo both decide that they don’t want to spend their last day alone so they sign up for the “Last Friend” app which hooks the dying up with someone to share their final day with. They find each other and the story spirals from there. It’s a beautiful portrayal of friendship, love, shared experiences and hope. How a story like this can be “realistic” when Death-Cast doesn’t exist (and never will I hope) in our reality I don’t know, but I found both characters incredibly relatable. The most passionate and emotional story - you will not regret reading this - it’ll make you treasure every precious second of your existence.
